Just curious... Which ones can you think of? (This does not include the interior, badge placement, exhaust, or reverse light/rear fog light. Just the bodywork.)
There’s, of course, the Nissan Cube:
As well as the Xterra:
As well as the LR Discovery:
And the Hyundai Veloster:
(Which, I guess, also makes virtually every minivan made before 2002 or so count as well, so maybe no door stuff anymore...)

There was one small car from the 80s or 90s than had the grille on only one side of the area between the headlights, but I can’t remember the name

The Mini Clubman (not the newest one) had the Club Door, of course, much like the Veloster. Does the Pacer count? Its right-hand door is longer than the left.

Talk about Asymmetrical....

Oh my god I forgot about my own car.

Wait, really? I never knew that. Kind of neat.

The original Renault 5 (and it’s predecessor, the... er... 4) had about an inch (OK, actually 30mm) difference in the wheelbase between the left side and the right side to allow for the location of the rear suspension. Now that is real asymmetry:

Renault 16:
It had an asymmetric wheelbase.

There’s one of em. The one I’m thinking about is a bit less boxy, and the grill slits are more diagonal.

That’s it, thanks!

Ford Escort GTs did asymmetrical in the prior generation as well.

There are too many cars with asymmetrical grilles to list so I’m leaving those out.
1st gen Freelander (and many other SUV’s) had asymmetrical license plate space.
1st gen Clubman had rear side door only on right side.

Saturn Ion coupe as well.

Have to feed the intercooler.
The DSM cars had the offset hood bubble.
Suzuki Alto Works.

It was an option, but many Testarossa’s from the 80's only had the one huge side mirror. Because the first rule of Italian driving....

Didn’t the Ion have rear doors on both sides?

one of the best comments i’ll read today lol

One-side-mirror-only is surprisingly common up until the 80s on all kinds of cars. I’ve got two 50s and 60s cars that way, and there’s a ‘78 Benz in the family that’s that way too.

Here’s my first truck. Lopsided spare tire.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 09:16 |

All of them used a full-width torsion bar rear independent suspension which resulted in different wheelbases between each side.

Also applies to the 4, 5, 6, 7, 14 and Rodeo.

You’re right, it was the SC2 that I meant.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 09:21 |

Nearly every single 280z ever made had a single side mirror as well, if only for the time between when the first one rusted off, and then the other one rusted off.

You have to add multiple van’s with assymetrical rear doors:
And SUV’s with a spare tyre and/or doors:

Ew, that’s really weird. So close to the center that it looks like it was offset by accident. I’d be kind of embarrassed to drive that.

Yes, I think the Mk3 Escort began that way too and that was early 80s.

That’s more like a Citroen BX than a BX is.
Edit: Same designer, who took it to Citroen after Volvo said
nej, tack.

The car drove well and was fun so it wasn't too much of a knock. At least it's a functional scoop for the inter cooler.
![]() 01/14/2016 at 10:53 |

Still, they could have stretched it a little farther toward the passenger side to make it symmetrical. Even if that extra couple inches wasn’t functional, it would just look better.
